IV. In Water 2018

""The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides, and in its depths, it has its pearls too."

– Vincent van Gogh

In Water Statement

At dawn, Whites Bay is quiet, save for the sea surging against the rocks where my tripod stands. A mix of awe and wonder courses through me as I immerse myself in the mesmerising motion of the waters. Long exposures become my brushstrokes, capturing the kaleidoscope of forms each wave brings—a fleeting masterpiece, a momentary narrative woven by nature's hand. The sea unveils and cloaks its mysteries, mirroring life's brisk passage. In each frozen frame, I'm reminded that our eyes often miss life's intricate details. Yet, in these moments, a trove of meaning awaits. Just as my lens captures a fragment of the ocean's journey, we can seize fleeting moments in our own lives—moments rich with the intricacies and significance of our humaness.

Punturiero’s images have a very strong lyrical quality to them. It's very clear that she immersed herself in the spaces that she photographed and allowed herself to re envision these moments into something that extends beyond photography and into the considerations of painting. To that effect, there is a very painterly quality to these images.
